Munch Eleven - Latte Art

We all know what coffee is and I think we've all drank it, even only for once. There are some who people dislike its bitterness and some people are addicted to it. But for some other people, coffee is an art.

I bet latte art is not an unfamiliar term for most of us, but for those who do not know what it is, latte art is "a method of preparing coffee created by pouring steamed milk into a shot of espresso and resulting in a pattern or design on the surface of the resulting latte." - Wikipedia.

I gotta admit now each time I want to buy coffee, I am really looking forward to the latte art. My curiosity then leads me to trying to make latte art by myself. Following a tutorial from YouTube, I managed to do this.

I had lots of fun doing it.

Munch Ten - (Week 10) Forced connection part 2! (END)

Well, guess who is feeling poetic this week?

This week's task is for us to make a poem using this website.
This is magnetic poetry kit (click here to try). You can do it from anywhere.

This is a really simple game. You just need to drag the words from the right side of the screen to the blank space. You can also add a title and author name.

We were working in groups. This time, I am grouping with Jecelyn (again) (click here to view her blog) and Rafaela (click here to view her blog)

After being confused and crazy for about an hour, we came up with this.... unique poem.
Interesting, huh?

After we all finished, we all need to read the poem for the class.

Entertained with the results, we made another poem. This time, we working as a class. Each person pick one word, and the next person continues the sentence.

In the end, we came up with this.
I have absolutely no idea what it means, but it is kinda poetic. Hooray for VA1M!

For our homework, we need to make another poem using this website. This time, it's supposed to be about love.

These are the words I am using.

And this is the result.

looking into his kind and loving eyes is like staring at the universe, full of stars, it lifted my spirit away. surrounded in peace by the river we sat, drinking wine and never want to let go.

If you have an iPad, there is an application that does the same thing. It's called Poetry Magnets. Here is a preview of the app.

This app basically is the same like the website but it has more words in it and it does not need internet connection. So in case you're feeling poetic but you do not have internet on your side, use this app.

Munch Nine - (Week 9) Forced connection part 1!

For this week's assignment we were asked to design things with some certain adjective. I chose to design pencils.

This first pencils are passionate pencils. As you can see, there is a small statue on the top. When you hold the pencils close, they would look like as if they are hugging.
This pencil is a sad pencil. See how it is bent to the side? It looked just like what we do when we are deppresed and sad. Doesn't it?

This one is a mechanical pencil. To start writing, pull the trigger. Do you dare to pull the trigger though?
This is the creative pencil. There is a note you can pull from this mechanical pencil and you can scribble some of your creative ideas on it so you won't forget it.
The next pencil has all thickness you need. Then you don't have to buy another pencil. This shows how greedy the pencil is.
I actually was planning to draw a reeaaaaalllyyyy long pencil, but oh well. The space was not enough. This is a pencil for a really long time. It is a very hardworking pencil

For those who are wondering what app I am using, it is called Sketches. It is free.

This app allows you to make several sketchbooks according to your preferences.

It also provides you with a decent number of drawing tools.

The red rectangle thingy is a pattern tool. It also provides you with several types of pattern.
So, this app is really helpful and of course, eco friendly.

Munch Eight - (Week 8) Analogical Thinking Part 2

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/
This week, we're learning more about Analogical thinking.

The lecture gave us some time to go around the building and find things that look like a face. We're working in groups again! Yay!

So, here are the picture of what we had found.

This first picture is a picture of my water bottle. When we look at it from this angle, a face is visible, making a shocked looking face.

The second one is a part of the locker located just outside our classroom. When we look at it this way, it looked like a rather bored face.

This third picture is of a socket. This kinda look like a scream face to me with and addition arm, which is the power switch.

This photo is of a door. Just imagine that the glass is the right eye, and the paper is the left eye with a small eyebrow on the top. The vertical handle is the nose, and the horizontal handle is the mouth. There is also an additional keyhole under it (lol).

We also found some, rather scary, faces on the trees trunk just outside our building. Interesting.

This one is a photo of a I don't know what handle that looked like a smiling mouth and my feet that looked like eyes.
This is another photo of the locker. Kinda look like a penguin doesn't it?

Munch Seven - (Week 7) Analogical Thinking Part 1

This week's homework, we were tasked to look 2 existing products and discover the relationships to other objects.

This is the first object.
www.furnime.com
This is a sofa made by Fredrikson Stallard, called Pyrenees sofa. When you look at it, what does it remind you of?

My answer, is the mountain.
wall.alphacoders.com
This is another example.
bigbobz.com
This chair reminds me of the tree trunk, very natural and it looks really realistic.
wallpaperswide.com
Last example, an extra.

You know what, they actually remind me of..... onion. I don't think they meant to do that though. It just... happened.

This is the last example.

It is a photo of a bathtub that looks like stone. It really is made out of stone though.

Munch Six - (Week 6) Lateral thinking

http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/system/product_images/images/001/076/921/original_think-outside-the-box-wall-art-print.jpg
So about two weeks ago, we got a lesson about lateral thinking.

What is lateral thinking?

http://www.brillianceactivator.com/services/training/lateral-thinking/

Lateral thinking is solving problems through an indirect and creative approach, using reasoning that is not immediately obvious and involving ideas that may not be obtainable by using only traditional step-by-step logic." - Wikipedia

So, we were given a few questions and the lecturer encourage us to use a creative way to solve this problem. One thing stressed from this lesson is to think outside the box.

Again, I am pairing with Jecelyn (view her blog here). We answered many questions. Some questions made our brains turned up side down, trying to find a unique way to solve the problem. But overall, I think we had a good time trying to figure thinks out.

There were some questions we needed to solve with drawing. To make things easier, we decided to use the iPad. Here are some of the screen captures.

There are lots of questions and problems you can only solve by thinking outside the box. For example is the problem where you need to connect 9 dots shaping the box with only four straight lines. You can see our answer above. The picture under this is the common answer.

Here are some quotes about thinking outside the box.
